FSBO market stats, sourced and dated
What does the for-sale-by-owner market actually look like? The numbers below come from the National Association of REALTORS® 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers (covering July 2024–June 2025) — the largest annual survey of US home sales. We show the figures straight, including the ones that favor agents, because that's the only honest way to do it.

FSBO is most common for manufactured homes and small multi-unit properties:
| Home type | FSBO share of sales |
|---|---|
| Detached single-family | 5% |
| Townhouse / row house | 4% |
| 2–4 unit | 7% |
| Condo (5+ unit building) | 5% |
| Manufactured / mobile home | 16% |

What this means if you're selling FSBO
The data says FSBO works best when you treat it like a real sale, not a shortcut: price on comparable sold homes, photograph it well, disclose honestly, and respond fast. The sellers who struggle most, per NAR, are the ones who don't actively market — which is exactly the problem a marketplace like this one solves.
